Syracuse University Club Badminton is a competitive and recreational club sport open to players of all skill levels.
For advanced players, Club Badminton sends their best team to participate in the Eastern Collegiate Team Badminton Championships, including the Northern Conference Division 3 in the fall and the playoffs in the spring. The team secured first place in Division 3 in fall 2023 and the bronze medal in Division 2-B in the spring 2024 playoffs. Club Badminton also has regular scrimmages with the University of Rochester, Rochester Institute of Technology and Binghamton University.
For beginner and intermediate players, the club provides a friendly atmosphere where everyone can play, improve and connect with each other. Through practice, the club helps members develop a deeper interest in badminton and promote it as a sport.
To become a member of Syracuse University Club Badminton, you must be enrolled at either Syracuse University or SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) and pay the $35-$40 membership fee per semester. This fee covers the cost of feather shuttlecocks, club rental rackets and racket grips. Joining is easy—there are no tryouts and no mandatory attendance. The club provides birdies and rackets. Practices are typically held twice a week, with an average of 30-50 players sharing eight courts and taking turns playing doubles.
