LEARN MORE ABOUT CLUB WESTERN EQUESTRIAN

Syracuse University Club Western Equestrian welcomes all students who are interested in beginning or continuing their horseback journey!

Members attend practice once a week at a time that is available to not only the coach but also students. 2-4 riders are at a single practice to allow them to get the attention needed from the coach. Riders will attend practice with other riders of similar skill levels. During practice, proper riding techniques, as well as how to untack a horse after practice, will be taught. Practices are held off-campus, but the team carpools to practice.

Club Western Equestrian competes in Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) competitions about once a month, where all riders are placed in a division based on their skill level and can show off their knowledge and skill. The club team competes alongside other colleges in the area.

Interested students are encouraged to look into joining regardless of experience. The club provides a welcoming atmosphere where new members will gain the knowledge needed to safely ride a horse. There are no tryouts to join!

To become a member of Club Western Equestrian, interested students must be enrolled as an undergraduate at either Syracuse University or SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF). The membership fee is $50 per year and $40 per lesson/competition. Fees do not cover riding attire, which members will have to purchase later on (specifics provided after joining the club), but members are often able to share hats and chaps if other members are the same size. For any questions or if you would like more information, email SUEquestrian@gmail.com or message the team on Instagram at @suwestern_eq.
