LEARN MORE ABOUT CLUB WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Syracuse University Club Women's Basketball is a competitive team for players of higher skill level. The team is typically made up of 10-15 players, and all have experience and skill in the sport of basketball prior to attending Syracuse University.

Each year, tryouts are held early in September, where any interested student is welcome to try out for the team. There are usually two tryouts within the same week, and decisions are made by Friday of that week. As much as the organization would love to allow all basketball players to join the team, the club is selective due to the league being a competitive environment.

Club Women's Basketball plays in the National Club Basketball Association (NCBBA). In the 2021-22 season the team made it to Nationals, and this past season, the team made it to the championship round of the NCBBA Regional Tournament. Club Women's Basketball competes in the North Atlantic Region under the East Conference against four other collegiate clubs, and the team competes in over 10 non-conference games. One of the largest tournaments the team plays in each year is the Penn State tournament, where they get opportunities to play teams from all around including the University of Wisconsin-Madison, University of Pittsburgh, Rutgers University and others.

Club Women's Basketball practices twice a week starting in September, and if their record allows them to get a bid to Nationals, then the club team plays into the end of April. Club team members have all school breaks off and do not practice during non-academic dates. When making the team, there is a new member fee of about $250 per player for uniforms and travel. The team plays almost all games on weekends, with a few exceptions for nearby scrimmages on weekdays.
