LEARN MORE ABOUT CLUB WOMEN'S RUGBY

The Syracuse University Club Women's Rugby is a competitive club sport, welcoming all proficiency levels. Whether it's your first time handling a rugby ball or your fiftieth time dominating a scrum, this is the team for you! Composed of roughly 25 Syracuse University and SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) students, Club Women's Rugby provides a fulfilling, challenging and inclusive athletic experience in a flexible and supportive environment. The club observes neither formal tryouts nor performance-based player eliminations (cuts), and membership entails dues totaling $90 for the fall and $50 for the spring. These dues cover partial kit purchases and contributes to club betterment.

Under the instruction of accomplished training staff, Club Women's Rugby maintains membership in National Collegiate Rugby (NCR) and competes within Division II of the Upstate New York Collegiate Rugby Conference (UNYCRC). During the team's Fall 15s season, members practice five days per week and play in roughly six matches, which typically occur every Saturday or every other Saturday, but may occasionally fall on Sunday. In the team's Spring 7s season, practice runs three days a week, with 3-6 Saturday tournaments spread throughout the semester.

Recent achievements include an impressive 5-0 record in Fall 15s, securing the title of 2023 UNYCRC 15s Division II Champion, and a strong 6-1 record in Spring 7s, which earned the team the 2024 UNYCRC 7s Division II Champion title. Most notably, Club Women's Rugby qualified for the 2024 Collegiate Rugby Championship (CRC), the highest-profile college rugby 7s tournament in the United States. The team emerged victorious as the Division II 2024 National CRC 7s Bowl Champions. Further showcasing the club's consistent performance, the team has advanced to the National Collegiate Rugby 15s Regional Playoffs for the last three consecutive years.

As the sport's popularity continues to proliferate within the U.S., Club Women's Rugby's mission remains: to foster the comprehensive development of the Syracuse University Rugby program. In pursuit of this goal, the club team embraces all aspiring ruggers seeking athletic development, leadership opportunities and a sense of camaraderie. For any questions or if you would like more information, email syracuseuniversitywomensrugby@gmail.com or message the team on Instagram at @syracusewomensrugby.
