Though his playing career was cut short by injury, Al Fecteau made a lasting impact on Syracuse University Men’s Hockey as one of its earliest and most influential voices in media. A student journalist for The Daily Orange, Fecteau provided detailed and consistent coverage of the team during the mid-1970s, helping to elevate its visibility and credibility. His reporting captured the players, games, and culture of the program at a time when exposure was limited.

Fecteau’s work set the standard for future coverage of Syracuse hockey, documenting its growth and advocating for its recognition. He later built a distinguished career in public information during his service in the U.S. Air Force, applying the same passion for storytelling and communication. His induction recognizes the vital role he played in promoting and preserving the history of the program.
