Glenn “The Wall” Schaul was a physically imposing defenseman and influential leader whose presence defined Syracuse University Men’s Hockey during his tenure. Standing out for his size, strength, and aggressive style of play, Schaul was known for his ability to control the defensive zone and protect his teammates. His reputation as a tough, no-nonsense competitor made him one of the most respected players in the league.

Beyond his on-ice performance, Schaul played a pivotal role in the program’s development, stepping into leadership positions as vice president, captain, and player-coach. He was instrumental in guiding the team back into structured league competition, helping reestablish its competitive standing. His commitment to leadership, mentorship, and program growth left a lasting legacy that extended well beyond his playing days. For his impact both on and off the ice, Schaul is honored as a member of the Hall of Fame Class of 2023.

Glenn Schaul was also honored with the Van Winkle Award in 2023.
