Jim “Marblehead” Veale was a tough, hard-nosed forward and influential leader for Syracuse University Men’s Hockey from 1979 to 1983. Known for his physical style of play and competitive edge, Veale was often at the center of the action, contributing as both a scorer and enforcer. He served as team president, captain, and player-coach, taking on significant responsibility in leading and sustaining the program during his tenure.

Off the ice, Veale demonstrated the same drive and leadership, eventually earning a PhD in physics and founding a successful business in the pharmaceutical technology sector. He has continued to stay active in hockey through recreational play and tournaments. His larger-than-life presence and contributions to the program’s culture and continuity make him a memorable and impactful figure in team history.
