Dave Schenkel was a highly skilled forward and influential leader for Syracuse University Men’s Hockey during the mid-1970s, serving as team captain from 1974 to 1976. A talented playmaker, he led the Finger Lakes Collegiate Hockey League in assists and made an immediate impact after transferring to Syracuse. Beyond his on-ice production, Schenkel played a vital role in maintaining and advancing the program during a challenging period, contributing to team operations and advocating for improvements, including facility development.

After graduating with a degree in business, Schenkel built a successful 32-year career with Ryan Homes, where he held leadership roles across multiple areas of the company, ultimately serving as Maryland State Manager. His leadership, work ethic, and team-first mentality—developed through hockey—carried over into his professional life, while his continued connection to the sport remained an important part of his personal and family life.
