Jeff Harris was a standout defenseman and one of the most impactful leaders in the history of Syracuse University Men’s Hockey. Serving as team president, captain, and player-coach, Harris guided the program through a critical period of growth and transformation in the late 1970s. He helped stabilize the program financially, increase its visibility, and played a central role in transitioning the team into a new league, ultimately leading Syracuse to back-to-back championship seasons.

Harris’s influence extended far beyond the ice, as he took on responsibilities ranging from organizing practices to managing game operations, embodying a truly hands-on leadership approach. After graduating, he pursued a career in the food service and hospitality industry, where he served for decades in leadership roles, including Regional Director of Operations. His experience with the hockey program helped shape the leadership skills and determination that defined his professional success.

Jeff Harris was also honored with the Van Winkle Award in 2022
