A key contributor during one of the program’s most successful eras, he led the team in scoring during the 1976–1977 season and earned First Team All-Star honors. Despite his smaller stature, McTigue excelled as a creative offensive player and was an integral part of a high-powered scoring unit.

Following his time at Syracuse, McTigue pursued a career in veterinary medicine, earning his doctorate and becoming a respected practitioner and business owner. He has remained connected to the game through continued participation in men’s leagues, valuing the camaraderie and relationships built through hockey. His impact as both a player and teammate continues to be recognized within the Syracuse hockey community.
