Peter W. Hayward, a 2022 recipient of the Richard Van Winkle Award, has played a transformative role in preserving and advancing the legacy of Syracuse University Men’s Hockey. Recognizing the importance of honoring the program’s past while strengthening its future, Hayward spearheaded numerous initiatives that have become foundational to the organization’s identity. His vision and dedication led to the creation of the Syracuse Hockey History Project, an extensive effort to document, research, and celebrate the program’s rich history.
